My qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Light Music and a Post Graduate Certificate in Jazz from the Guildhall School of Music, London. I also have a Further Education Teacher's Certificate and a current DBS certificate.

Qualifications

I have been teaching for over 25 years. Over this time, I have taught hundreds of students of varying abilities from as young as 7 years and up to 80+ years of age. I believe that anyone can learn to play an instrument with an open mind, enthusiasm and the time to practise. I draw on my experience as a professional musician (on the QE2) as well as the many bands that I've played in to pass on to my students an insight into professional playing that is unique to myself. I also attend regular professional development courses to keep up to date with the latest educational developments.

Experience

The main result of the lessons is the enjoyment in making music, but some of my students like to go on to take graded exams. I teach both A.B.R.S.M. and Trinity Guildhall exam boards. I have over 300 passes, many merits and distinctions in the graded exams from one to eight including diplomas on all my instruments. Many of my students join bands and orchestras and some go on to study music at university or at specialist schools like Cheethams in Manchester, and have their own careers in the music business.
